Niclas Andersén (born April 28, 1988 in Grums ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Brynäs IF from the Svenska Hockeyligan again since April 2018 .

Career

Niclas Andersén began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at Grums IK , for whom he made his third-class Division 1 debut in the 2003/04 season . The defender then moved to the junior division of the first division club Leksands IF , for whose professional team he was on the ice for the first time in the 2005/06 season in the Elitserien , where he remained pointless in eight games and relegated with his team to the HockeyAllsvenskan , in which he gave five assists in a total of 35 games in the following season. During his time at Leksands IF, the left-shooter was selected in the fourth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft as a 114th player from the Los Angeles Kings , for whom he never played. Instead, he moved to the Elitserien club Brynäs IF in the summer of 2007 , for which he played until 2012.

In June 2012 Andersén was signed by Severstal Tscherepowez from the Continental Hockey League . The defender spent two years there before moving to Brynäs IF and leading the team as captain. In the 2014/15 season he scored 22 points in 54 games (the previous high of his career), so that in June 2015 the Pittsburgh Penguins from the National Hockey League signed him. The Los Angeles Kings' draft rights had long since expired.

Andersén spent the 2016/17 season at Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg in the Continental Hockey League before moving to EHC Kloten in the Swiss National League for the 2017/18 season. There he was dismissed due to poor performance in November and a few days later received a contract with Jokerit Helsinki from the Continental Hockey League.

In April 2018 he returned to Brynäs IF in Sweden.

International

For Sweden , Andersén took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in 2005 and 2006 , as well as the U20 World Junior Championship in 2008 .
