The Halle district was an administrative unit in the Saale department in the Kingdom of Westphalia . It was formed by the Royal Decree of December 24, 1807 and existed until 1813.

Emerging is the district from the county of Mansfeld , without the city Artern and the offices Artern , Bornstedt and Voigtstedt and Saalkreis the Duchy of Magdeburg .

In the district with the main town hall lived 1811 105.206 people on 33.29 mi² . It comprised 13 cities , 3 market towns , 17 suburbs , 253 villages , 38 hamlets and 36 wastelands with 16,898 households. Of the creed, 183 people were Catholic, 1493 Reformed and 111 Jewish. The rest of the population had an evangelical creed.

The district was headed by a sub-prefect . The sub-prefect of the Halle district changed four times during the existence of the district. The officials employed here were all promoted to higher positions. The sub-prefects of the Halle district were:

The district council to control the tax lists was formed by Messrs Behrendes, Bessel, Bittner, Kessler, Nöcklein, Schwarz, Reiche, Wenzel, the former Prussian tax council Louis Frédéric Villaret, a Freiherr von Trotha and the former war and domain councilor and publicist Traugott Gotthilf Voigtel.

Courts of peace were in Glaucha, Wippra, Mansfeld, Leimbach, Gerbstedt, Polleben, Fienstedt, Helfta, Seeburg, Schraplau, Dieskau, Neumarkt, Oppin, Wettin, Lobejün, Cönnern, Alsleben, Eisleben, Endorf and Hettstedt. The city of Halle had 2 peace courts.

Cantonal division

The district was divided into 18 cantons on December 24, 1807, and the four cantons Wippra, Eisleben, Endorf and Hettstedt were added on March 27, 1808, so that from 1808 the Halle district comprised 22 cantons with 152 municipalities:
