Morl is a village in the municipality of Petersberg in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany). It consists of the districts of Alaune , Beidersee , Morl and Möderau .

Morl is located north of Halle (Saale) and is about two kilometers from the Saale .
history
Morl belonged to the office of Giebichenstein in the hall circle of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg . With its annexation to Prussia, the place belonged to the Brandenburg-Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg from 1680 .
With the Peace of Tilsit in 1807, the place was incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. He belonged to the canton of Wettin . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Morl was attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and assigned to the Saalkreis.
On July 1, 1950, Beidersee and Möderau were incorporated.
Until the formation of the unified community Petersberg on 1 January 2010 Morl was an independent municipality in the Götschetal-Petersberg with the associated districts Beidersee and Möderau and the living space alums. The last honorary mayor of Morls was Ilona Thiemert.
Falko Schmidt has been the honorary local mayor of Morl since August 20, 2014.
Attractions
The menhir of Morl is located near the village . On the eastern edge of Morl is St. George's Church , which in its core dates back to the 13th century . In addition, streets in the town center are designated as a monument area.

Transport links
Morl is on the L 50 from Halle (Saale) to Könnern . The federal motorway 14 , which leads from Leipzig to Magdeburg , is 3 km north of Morl. Since the shutdown of the Wallwitz – Wettin small railroad via Morl, the next station has been in the neighboring town of Wallwitz .
