history

Werderthau was divided in terms of its rule until 1815. One part belonged as schriftsässiger place to manor Ostrava , which from 1485 under the administration of wettinischen Office Delitzsch stood, was physically separated from the latter. The other part belonged to the manor Cösseln that as a pin fief under the administration of what he territorially separate merseburgischen hochstiftlich- Office Lauchstaedt stood.

As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the places of the estate districts of Ostrau and Cösseln, like most of the places of the Saxon Delitzsch office and all of the places of the Lauchstädt office, became part of Prussia in 1815. Werderthau was assigned to the district of Bitterfeld in the administrative district of Merseburg in the province of Saxony in 1816.

On July 1, 1950 Werderthau was incorporated into Ostrau. At the same time, both places moved to the Saalkreis . During the district reform in the GDR , Werderthau became part of Ostrau in 1952 and became part of the smaller Saalkreis in the Halle district , which was incorporated into the Saalekreis during the regional reform of the state of Saxony-Anhalt in 2007.

When the unified community Petersberg was formed on January 1, 2010, Werderthau became a district of the village of Ostrau within the new large community of Petersberg.
