Location of Mösthinsdorf in Petersberg

Mösthinsdorf is a district of the unified community Petersberg in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

history

Until 1936 Mösthinsdorf consisted of the villages Möst b. Ostrau and Hinsdorf. Möst, a village of Slavic origin, was first mentioned in a document in 1180, while Hinsdorf has been known since 1255 and is of German origin.

Möst was a village that, as an exclave of the Lauchstädt district of Merseburg, was under the sovereignty of the Electorate of Saxony. In writing it belonged to the Kösseln manor and had a branch church from this place.

Hinsdorf, on the other hand, was an exclave of the Zörbig district belonging to the Leipzig district in the district of the Kösseln manor. The place was parish to Möst.

In 1816, both places came to the Merseburg administrative district of the newly formed Prussian province of Saxony . In 1816 they were assigned to the district of Bitterfeld in the administrative district of Merseburg in the province of Saxony.

On July 1, 1950, the unified Mösthinsdorf moved to the Saalkreis . During the district reform in the GDR in 1952, the place became part of the smaller Saalkreis in the Halle district , which was added to the Saalekreis during the regional reform of the state of Saxony-Anhalt in 2007.

On January 1, 2005 Mösthinsdorf was incorporated into Ostrau.

Attractions

the village church of Mösthinsdorf

On the outskirts there are two natural landmarks, an area with rare bald cypress trees and a wet meadow.

The town's church dates from the 12th century. The foundation walls and the sandstone portal date from the Romanesque period, while the entire structure underwent changes in the 18th century. Some well-preserved baroque tombstones can be seen on the church wall.

The original entrance portal, an extremely impressive Romanesque sandstone portal with columns on both sides, provided with well-preserved cube capitals, indicates the old age of the church. The old little bell also dates from the 13th century. When the church was renovated in 1769/70, it also received a new tower button with a weather vane. In the weather vane were the initials of the founder FW v. V. ( Franz Wilhelm Werner von Veltheim ). In March 1980, construction work began to repair the church. Six years passed before it was completed. After a general repair and the installation of an electric wind blower, the organ was inaugurated again together with the church on August 23 and 24, 1986.

organ

The organ in Mösthinsdorf is attributed to two builders. In 1850, the organ builder W. Loewe from Delitzsch began building the new organ. However, he died during the construction phase and could no longer finish the project. It was not until eight years later, in 1858, that the organ was completed by the master organ builder Eduard Offenhauer, also from Delitzsch. No other organ buildings by the organ builder W. Loewe are known.

The organ was spared major modifications and changes. Most of it has been preserved in its original form. In terms of its construction, this organ work is solidly crafted and made using good materials.

The organ was repaired in accordance with monument conservation criteria and will be inaugurated again on September 20, 2008 at 2 p.m. with a festive service. The Mösthinsdorfer Heimatverein eV and the parish Ostrau eV jointly organize this festival service with choir and instrumental music.

Other organ buildings by the organ builder Eduard Offenhauer are known in Leipzig-Seehausen, Leipzig-Göbschelwitz (destroyed) and Leipzig-Plaußig.

Various events are organized annually, including the “Mösthinsdorfer Heimatfest”. The Mösthinsdorfer Heimatchor has been active in the village since 2008. The "Heimatlied" was composed and written by Norbert Schalipp, which was premiered by the Heimatchor at the 10th anniversary of the club at the Heimatfest. Guests of honor were the composer Norbert Schalipp and his wife Andrea as well as a member of the Bundestag, Christoph Bergner and former district administrator, Knut Bichoel.
