Sennewitz is a village in the municipality of Petersberg in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt . The formerly independent municipality had been part of the municipality of Götschetal since July 1, 2006 . Since January 1st 2010, Sennewitz has been part of the Petersberg community . On June 30, 2005, 1718 people lived in Sennewitz.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1182 . Sennewitz belonged to the Giebichenstein office in the hall circle of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg . With its annexation to Prussia, the place belonged to the Brandenburg-Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg from 1680 .

With the Treaty of Tilsit , Sennewitz and the "Dreckente" inn, built in 1780, were incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. Sennewitz and Duck belonged to the canton of Neumarkt . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Sennewitz was attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and assigned to the Saalkreis.

The Ferdinande mine was opened in 1845 and closed in 1932.

Sennewitz is the headquarters of Mitteldeutsche Baustoffe GmbH , which emerged from the Halle natural stone combine and operates gravel works, hard stone works and sand pits in Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia.

The village is on the connecting road from Halle (Saale) to Köthen . The A 14 motorway, which runs from Leipzig to Magdeburg , is 3 km north of Sennewitz. The former federal highway 6 from Halle (Saale) to Aschersleben now touches the western local area as highway 50 .
