Nehlitz is a village in the municipality of Petersberg in the Saale district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Nehlitz is located north of Halle (Saale) at the foot of the Petersberg .

The place is on the connecting road from Halle (Saale) to Köthen . The federal motorway 14 , which leads from Dresden to Magdeburg , runs 1 km south of Nehlitz.

history

Nehlitz was first mentioned in a document in 961 . The place was owned by the Augustinian Canons of Petersberg, founded in 1124 . This was part of the Margraviate of Meissen and arrived at the Leipzig division of Saxony Electorate in 1485 to the Albertine Duchy of Saxony. In the course of the introduction of the Reformation in 1538/40, the monastic property was secularized and transformed into the lordly office of Petersberg . Nehlitz became a direct subject village, which bordered on scattered villages of the manor Ostrau belonging to the Electoral Saxon office of Delitzsch .

As a result of the Schmalkaldic War and the Wittenberg surrender in 1547, the Albertine Duchy of Saxony was elevated to the status of Electorate of Saxony, which meant that Nehlitz was part of the Petersberg district for the next 150 years. With the sale of the Petersberg district to Brandenburg-Prussia in 1697, the place was incorporated into the Saalkreis in the Duchy of Magdeburg , while the neighboring towns belonging to the Ostrau manor remained Electoral Saxon. As a result of the Peace of Tilsit , Petersberg and Nehlitz were added to the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807, like the other West Elbe regions in Prussia . As part of the Saalkreis, the Petersberg office with Nehlitz was assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. The place came to the canton of Löbejün with some free yards in the Electoral Saxon towns of Werben , Schrenz and Löbersdorf .

After the defeat of Napoleon and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1813, the Prussian king and his "old provinces" also took possession of the Saalkreis with Nelitz again. In 1815, this "old property" from before 1807 and the royal Saxon territories acquired by the Congress of Vienna became the province of Saxony . Through the reorganization of the Prussian area in 1816, Nehlitz came to the Saalkreis in the administrative district of Merseburg . During the district reform in the GDR , Nehlitz came to the reduced hall circle in the Halle district .

The formerly independent municipality of Nehlitz had been part of the newly formed municipality of Götschetal since July 1, 2006 . Since January 1, 2010, Nehlitz has been part of the Petersberg community .
