history

With the exception of Sylbitz, which had its own mother church, the districts of Wallwitz belonged to the parish of Petersberg . Politically, the places originally belonged to the hall circle of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg, except for Westewitz, which was an exclave in the Electorate of Saxony .

The following political affiliations can be proven for the places up to the 19th century

place Country circle Official affiliation
Roof crack Archbishopric Magdeburg, from 1680 Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg Hall circle noble place
Merkewitz Archbishopric Magdeburg, from 1680 Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg Hall circle noble place
Sylbitz Archbishopric Magdeburg, from 1680 Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg Hall circle Wettin Office
Trebitz Archbishopric Magdeburg, from 1680 Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg Hall circle Wettin Office
Wallwitz Archbishopric Magdeburg, from 1680 Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg Hall circle Cathedral chapter of Magdeburg
Westewitz Electorate of Saxony, from 1806 Kingdom of Saxony Leipzig district Exclave of the Delitzsch office , belonging to the Ostrau manor

As the Archbishopric of Magdeburg became part of Prussia, Wallwitz, Dachritz, Merkewitz, Sylbitz and Trebitz belonged to the Brandenburg-Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg from 1680 onwards . Westewitz formed with the neighboring Frößnitz since 1697 the sale of the Petersberg office to Brandenburg-Prussia an electoral Saxon exclave in the Prussian Saalkreis. However, they continued to pay interest to the now Prussian office of Petersberg.

With the Peace of Tilsit , Wallwitz, Dachritz, Merkewitz, Sylbitz and Trebitz were incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. They belonged to the canton of Wettin . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813.

During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the five Prussian towns of Wallwitz, Dachritz, Merkewitz, Sylbitz and Trebitz and the town of Westewitz, which had been ceded by the Kingdom of Saxony, were attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and assigned to the Saalkreis.

On October 1, 1938, the places Westewitz, Dachritz, Merkewitz, Sylbitz and Trebitz were incorporated into Wallwitz. The name was changed on January 1, 1998, when the former municipality of Wallwitz was renamed Wallwitz (Saalkreis) .

During the GDR era, the LPG “August Bebel” from Wallwitz was a model company for intensive poultry production , in which research was also carried out. The film Flora, Jolanthe and four thousand chickens reports from the LPG.

Since July 1, 2006, Wallwitz was part of the newly formed community Götschetal . Since January 1st 2010 Wallwitz belongs to the unified community Petersberg .
