The canton Wettin was an administrative unit in the Halle district of the Saale department in the Napoleonic Kingdom of Westphalia . The main town of the canton and seat of the justice of the peace was Wettin in today's Saalekreis . The canton comprised 10 municipalities and several hamlets and farms. It was inhabited by 5,482 people and had an area of 1.41 square miles . The canton emerged from part of the hall circle of the Duchy of Magdeburg .
