Gimritz is a district of the town Wettin-Löbejün in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany .
geography
Gimritz is approx. Seven km northwest of Halle (Saale) . The districts Gimritz and Raunitz belong to the village of Gimritz.
history
Today's village of Gimritz has its roots in the three Slavic settlements of Gimritz (Chumeritz), Nösselitz and Raunitz (Ruwenitz) and the later German settlement of Langendorf. Of the deserted villages Kapowe, Preternik and Zuschtau (the latter deserted after 1484) no traces are visible today.
In 1276 the villages of Nösselitz, Gimritz and Kapowe were mentioned for the first time in a dispute between the Bishop of Merseburg and the Count of Brehna over the jurisdiction of the goods. Gimritz belonged to the Office Giebichenstein , Raunitz for office Wettin in Saalkreis of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg . With its annexation to Prussia, the places belonged to the Brandenburg-Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg from 1680 .
With the Treaty of Tilsit , Gimritz and Raunitz were incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. They belonged to the canton of Wettin . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Gimritz and Raunitz were attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and assigned to the Saalkreis. In 1847 today's Sankt-Georg-Kirche was built in the village. Raunitz was incorporated into Gimritz on April 1, 1938.
On January 1, 2011, the municipalities of Löbejün and Wettin as well as the municipalities of Brachwitz , Döblitz , Domnitz , Gimritz, Nauendorf , Neutz-Lettewitz , Plötz and Rothenburg , which had previously been merged in the Saalkreis Nord administrative community, became the new town of Löbejün-Wettin , which already received its current name Wettin-Löbejün on April 7, 2011.
