The canton of Cönnern was an administrative unit in the Halle district of the Saale department in the Napoleonic Kingdom of Westphalia .
The main town of the canton and seat of the justice of the peace was Könnern (spelling at the time: Cönnern) in today's Salzlandkreis . The canton comprised nine municipalities. It was inhabited by 5,635 people and had an area of 1.86 square miles . It emerged from part of the hall circle of the Duchy of Magdeburg and the Beesedau exclave of the County of Barby , ceded by the Kingdom of Saxony .
