history

The place priest was first mentioned as "Prezer" in 1288 in a sales document from Count Otto von Brehna , in which he sold the County of Wettin with all its accessories to the Archdiocese of Magdeburg . Ecclesiastically, the place belonged to Krosigk . In 1371 the priest was assigned to the Wettin office, whose official seat was at Wettin Castle . In 1446, the place was given to the Lords of Trotha as an archaeological Magdeburg fief .

As a result of the annexation of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg to Prussia, Priest belonged to the hall circle of the Brandenburg-Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg from 1680 . With the Peace of Tilsit in 1807, Priester was incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. The place belonged to the canton Wettin . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Priester was attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony and assigned to the Saalkreis.

On July 1, 1950, priests were incorporated into Nauendorf . With the dissolution of the Nauendorf community on January 1, 2011, Priester came to the newly formed town of Wettin-Löbejün as part of the Nauendorf community.
