Dobis is a village in the town of Wettin-Löbejün in Dößel in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The place is located northwest of Wettin on the right bank of the Saale and has about 180 inhabitants. The nature reserves Saale slopes near Dobis and Saale gorge near Rothenburg are located in the vicinity of the village .

history

The first written mention of the originally Slavic village comes from the year 1371 as Dobitz or Dobutz . Dobis was owned by the Gervicus von Hacke . Presumably the place was more important, at least there was a ferry across the Saale. Dobitz then came into the possession of the Magdeburg cathedral chapter . With the annexation of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg to Prussia, Dobis belonged to the Brandenburg-Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg from 1680 . The noble place belonged to the hall circle . In the 17th century, Dobis became the property of the Brunner family from Müelte. In the vicinity of the place, hard coal was mined from the 15th to the 19th century . Remnants of the pits have been preserved. Copper shale mining probably began even earlier . Numerous copper slate heaps have remained in the area.

With the Peace of Tilsit , Dobis was incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. The place belonged to the canton Wettin . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Dobis was attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony and assigned to the Saalkreis. On July 1, 1950, Dobis was incorporated into Dößel . In 1997 a new residential area with 23 lots was built at the entrance to the village. Various historical buildings in the town center have been renovated and preserved. On July 1, 2008, Dößel was incorporated into the city of Wettin , which was in turn incorporated into Wettin-Löbejün on January 1, 2011.
