DOBIS / LIBIS was an integrated library system .

history

In the 1960s and 1970s, IBM had developed various library software for internal use in the Los Gatos corporate library, but these had not been sold commercially. In the 1970s, the Federal Republic of Germany commissioned IBM to develop an integrated library system for the Dortmund University Library . The product was named DOBIS, consisted of an OPAC with search function and went into operation in 1976. LIBIS was developed for the Leuven University Library . DOBIS and LIBIS were subsequently sold and further developed under the name DOBIS / LIBIS.
