Friedeburg (Saale) is a district of the city of Gerbstedt in the eastern district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany.

geography

In the east the place is bordered by the Saale , one of the tributaries, the Schlenze flows through it coming from the west. The surrounding landscape is hilly and mainly characterized by agriculture. There are no extensive forest areas, lakes or other scenic features. The surrounding hills have names like Schäferberg or Galgenberg.

Friedeburg (Saale) is approx. 18 km northeast of Eisleben and just under 15 km east of Hettstedt an der Saale . The next big city is Halle (Saale), about 20 km away .

history

In 1183 the community was first mentioned as Vredeberch . However, grave fields from the younger Bronze Age were already on the Eichberg . Germanic graves from the 7th century were found on the southern slope of the Galgenberg. In 1442 the Counts of Mansfeld Friedeburg and Salzmünde bought Meissen groschen for 4,000 shock. In 1540 Friedeburg Castle and the office fell to the Governor of Luxembourg, Peter Ernst I. von Mansfeld . Friedeburg remained in the possession of this family until 1780. As their vassals and feudal takers, the von Steuben sat in Friedeburg from 1262 to 1721 and on the Gerbstedt manor from 1442 to 1738 .

On January 4, 2010, the municipal council of the municipality of Friedeburg decided that the municipality of Friedeburg should be incorporated into the unified municipality of Gerbstedt. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 24, 2010.

After incorporation of the previously independent municipality Friedeburg, Friedeburg becomes part of the city of Gerbstedt. For the incorporated municipality, the local constitution according to §§ 86 ff. Of the municipality code of Saxony-Anhalt is introduced. The incorporated community of Friedeburg and future district of Friedeburg will become the locality of the receiving city of Gerbstedt. A local council with a local mayor is formed in the incorporated municipality and now the village of Friedeburg.

The last honorary mayor of the Friedeburg community was Ute Schneider. It was elected for the first time on May 25, 2008.
