Zabenstedt is a district of the city of Gerbstedt in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

Zabenstedt located at the junction of two valleys in the northeastern district of Mansfeld-Südharz that the Lohbachs from the three kilometers north-eastern Gerbstedt and from the southwest to Polleben coming Schlenze after Friedeburgerhütte flows, both waters flow together in the south of the village. The valleys lie on the Mansfelder Platte , a flat landscape that stretches in the south to the Riss am Süßen See near Seeburg . Nearby small towns are about 14 km northwest of Hettstedt , 13 km southwest of Eisleben and 9 km northeast of Könnern in the Salzlandkreis . South of Zabenstedt, on the dirt road to Lochwitz, there are remains of a so-called tuff quarry , after which a street in the village has been named since 2010.

history

Zabenstedt was first mentioned in a document in 1256.

From October 2, 1899, the Gerbstedt-Friedeburgerhütte branch line , which belonged to the Halle-Hettstedter Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft , ran around the town to the south and served the Zabenstedt station. It was extended to Friedeburg on September 3, 1900 . In 1962, the traffic on the railway line was given up, only a few remains of the tracks can be found today. The pillars and abutments can still be seen from the bridge over the Schlenze in the west of the village .

On January 1, 2010 the communities of Zabenstedt, Augsdorf , Friedeburgerhütte , Hübitz , Ihlewitz , Rottelsdorf , Siersleben and Welfesholz merged with the city of Gerbstedt to form the new city of Gerbstedt. The Gerbstedt administrative community , to which Zabenstedt belonged, was dissolved.

Economy and Infrastructure

Zabenstedt's economic basis is agriculture.

In Zabenstedt I cross the state roads 154 ( Siersleben - Könnern ) and 158 ( Greifenhagen - Friedeburg ). To the federal highway 180 which connects Lutherstadt Eisleben and Aschersleben , it is approx. 14 km to the west.

The next train stations are in Hettstedt and Sandersleben.

The next motorway exit is on federal motorway 14 near Plötzkau .

The Leipzig / Halle International Airport is located 50 km southeast of the village.
