Oeste is a district of the village of Freist , which belongs to the city of Gerbstedt in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Oeste is about nine kilometers east of Gerbstedt on the road 158 to Friedeburg (Saale) . About one kilometer west of today's double village Oeste / Zabitz is the district of Freist with its distinctive, listed Holy Cross Church.

Since the incorporation of the village, the population figures are no longer published by district. In Feist with the parts Elben, Oeste and Zabitz live together 323 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2009).

history

In 992 the place was first mentioned under the name Osutiscie (Oeste). King Otto III. Oeste transferred, along with other villages, to the Quedlinburg Abbey with the stipulation that the proceeds of the Walbeck Abbey Church, founded in 942, should flow into it. In the 1920s, the two closely related municipalities of Oeste and Königswiek were merged to form the municipality of Oeste-Königswiek . The municipality of Oeste-Königswiek was incorporated into Freist on July 1, 1950.

Public transport

The most important means of public transport is the bus connection through the Südharz line 411 and 413, Gerbstedt-Friedeburg. The nearest train stations are in Hettstedt, Klostermansfeld (Magdeburg-Erfurt line), Sandersleben (Magdeburg-Erfurt and Halle-Vienenburg lines ) and Eisleben ( Halle-Kassel line ).
