history

Beesenstedt and its current districts of Naundorf, Schwittersdorf and Zörnitz belonged to the Seeburg office in the Schraplau district of the Mansfeld county . When the county of Mansfeld was divided in 1738/80, the places with the Seeburg office got the share that the Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg received. With the Treaty of Tilsit , Beesenstedt, Naundorf, Schwittersdorf and Zörnitz were incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. They came to the canton of Seeburg . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the area in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Beesenstedt, Naundorf, Schwittersdorf and Zörnitz were attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and incorporated into the Mansfeld lake district.

In the course of the first district reform in the GDR, Naundorf and Zörnitz were incorporated into Beesenstedt on July 1, 1950 and the place was reclassified into the Saalkreis . With the second district reform in 1952, Beesenstedt came into the newly tailored hall circle in the Halle district , which was added to the Saalekreis in 2007. Schwittersdorf was incorporated on April 1, 1979.

Until the new formation of the unified municipality of Salzatal on January 1, 2010, Beesenstedt was an independent municipality in the administrative community of the Western Saalkreis .

Industrial history

About 500 m south of the town of Beesenstedt is the decommissioned potash mine of the Wils union . Potash salts were extracted here from 1911 to 1922 . The 1,000 Kuxe of the “Wils Union” was owned by the “Johannashall Union”, so that this mine was in fact a subsidiary of the latter union. The board of directors and the management were the same people on both mines.

Transport links

The districts of Schwittersdorf and Naundorf are on the well-developed connection road L 159 from Halle (Saale) to Klostermansfeld , which then leads as the B 242 over the Harz to Seesen .

The federal motorway 14 , which leads from Leipzig to Magdeburg , is about 14 km east of Beesenstedt.
