Administrative association for the western Saalkreis
In the administrative community Westlicher Saalkreis from the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt , nine municipalities were brought together to handle their administrative business. The community Höhnstedt came on January 1st, 2009 from the administrative community Würde / Salza to the administrative community Westlicher Saalkreis.
On January 1, 2010, the administrative community was dissolved through the amalgamation of all member communities to form the new unified community of Salzatal .
The administrative community had an area of 109.36 km² and 12,952 inhabitants (December 31, 2007).

- Salzmünde with Benkendorf, Gödewitz, Neuragoczy, Pfützthal, Quillschina and Schiepzig
- Schochwitz with Boltzenhöhe, Gorsleben, Krimpe, Räther and Wils
- Zappendorf with Müllerdorf and Köllme
