Obermaschwitz is a village in the city of Landsberg in the Saale district in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The village belongs to the Landsberg town of Oppin and is located northeast of Halle (Saale) . A little further east is Untermaschwitz . The desert of Mittelmaschwitz lies between Ober and Untermaschwitz . Federal motorway 14 runs west of Obermaschwitz . To the southeast of the town center is a pond that is drained from the Kruggraben to the east.

The larger manor buildings of the village are next to the village green on a dead end. The field is surrounded by several small houses with gardens and stables.

history

In 1784 Obermaschwitz had 82 inhabitants at 14 fireplaces. The number of animals was given as 130 sheep, 59 cattle, 18 pigs and 11 horses. On the night of March 6th to 7th, 1808, the village burned down almost completely as a result of an arson attack . Only four houses and two stables remained.

Obermaschwitz belonged to the Giebichenstein office in the hall circle of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg . In 1680 the place came with the Saalkreis to the Duchy of Magdeburg under Brandenburg-Prussian rule. With the Treaty of Tilsit , Obermaschwitz was incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. The place belonged to the canton of Neumarkt . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the place was attached to the administrative district of Merseburg in the Prussian province of Saxony and assigned to the Saalkreis.

In 1825 the place had 72 inhabitants in 11 houses. The population remained largely constant for a long time. In 1865 there were 74 inhabitants, in 1885 72 inhabitants. The area was recorded as 509 acres in 1865 and 520 acres in 1885. For 1900, the property is recorded as a larger property with real estate tax income of 3,056 marks. The number of inhabitants rose to 94 by 1905 and then fell slightly to 90 by 1910.

There was also a small village tavern in Obermaschwitz.

On April 1, 1938, Ober- and Untermaschwitz merged to form the Maschwitz community. On July 1, 1950, Maschwitz was incorporated into Oppin.

In the local monument register , the town center is registered as a street at An der Schenke 4–11 as a monument area.
