Office Voigtstedt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Voigtstedt office was an administrative unit of the part of the county of Mansfeld that fell to the Electoral Saxony (from 1806 Kingdom of Saxony) in the 16th century . It existed from the late Middle Ages until it was dissolved in 1815.

history

Voigtstedt was the seat of a county that belonged to the Count of Stolberg , first mentioned in 1210 , and in which a branch of this noble family resided. The Voigstedt office emerged from the rest of the former county, which was under the sovereignty of the Archdiocese of Magdeburg and had belonged to the Counts of Mansfeld since 1452. Due to the permutation recession of 1579 because of the hopelessly indebted Count of Mansfeld, sovereignty over the office of Voigtstedt fell to the Electorate of Saxony. A few years earlier, in 1570, the Voigtstedt office was pledged. The pledging was carried out together with the neighboring Artern office . In 1626 the Artern office was redeemed again, but the Voigtstedt office remained pledged. In 1627 the Vitzthum von Eckstedt family became new pawn owners. In 1660 the pledged office of Voigtstedt fell to the Lords of Burgsdorf . Between 1665 and 1667 there were efforts to repurchase the office of Voigtstedt. In 1753 the pledged office went to the first bourgeois owner, the bailiff Aurbach from Sittichenbach .

With the formation of the Kingdom of Westphalia , the Voigtstedt office was subordinated to the royal Saxon office of Sangerhausen . After the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the office of Voigtstedt fell completely to the Kingdom of Prussia and became part of the newly formed Duchy of Saxony with Merseburg as the new seat of government. The Prussian province of Saxony emerged from the duchy in 1816 , to whose administrative district Merseburg the former administrative area of Voigtstedt belonged from then on.
