Manfred Kobuch

Manfred Kobuch (born March 12, 1935 in Holzhausen near Leipzig ; † July 6, 2018 in Dresden ) was a German archivist and historian .

Life

Manfred Kobuch attended the Humboldt School in Leipzig from 1949 to 1953 . He then studied history at the University of Leipzig , where he was influenced by the university lecturers Heinrich Sproemberg and Hellmut Kretzschmar , among others . After training as an archivist at the Institute for Archival Studies in Potsdam , he initially worked at the State Archives in Magdeburg from 1959 to 1961 , before joining the archives service at the Dresden State Archives in May 1961 . Until 1993 he was head of the department for older archives (until 1831/1879) and looked after its service library.

Since 1978 Kobuch was a member of the historical commission of the Saxon Academy of Sciences . A research and publication focus of Kobuch was the correspondence of Thomas Müntzer . He was the author and editor of 14 books each, primarily on the history of Saxony . In addition, he wrote about 100 articles in magazines and compilations. He was also an avid reviewer .

Kobuch was a member of the Society for the Promotion of the Reconstruction of the Frauenkirche Dresden eV From 1995 he was editor of the yearbook Die Dresdner Frauenkirche. In 2012 he became an honorary member of the Society for the Promotion of the Frauenkirche Dresden eV

His wife Agatha Kobuch (1933–2018) also worked as a historian and archivist.
