Steve Goodman (actually Steven Benjamin Goodman , born July 25, 1948 in Chicago , † September 20, 1984 in Seattle ) was an American singer and composer of folk music .
His biggest hit was the song City of New Orleans . Although not in its interpretation from 1971, but sung by the singer Arlo Guthrie , the song reached number 18 in the US charts in 1972. It was then a popular cover song for many well-known musicians and performers. The most famous German interpretation is When will it be summer again? . Ten music albums were released during his lifetime, followed posthumously by two productions and three live recordings of concerts.
Steve Goodman developed leukemia at the age of 20 and died of it in 1984 at the age of 36.
