Nikolausrieth is a part of the community Mönchpfiffel-Nikolausrieth in the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia .

Nikolausrieth and Mönchpfiffel are located in the Goldenen Aue on Landesstraße 1228. A little south of this district, the Helme flows into the Unstrut . The Unstrut and Helmen lowlands are fertile fields. The federal highway 38 touches the area north of the boundaries of both districts .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1205 in the document book I, p. 57 of the Walkenried monastery . The administration of the district is based on 1226. The Cistercian convent was founded by Walkenried in 1236 and existed until 1525. It is called Niclasrode in the literature (Veremund Gufl).

In 1956 the community Mönchpfiffel-Nikolausrieth was formed from the villages Mönchpfiffel and Nikolausrieth. The place was and is characterized by agriculture. 200 inhabitants live in the district. The church previously belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Saxony .
