history

Teicha was first mentioned in a document in 961. The district of Groitsch, which was mentioned in a document in 952, is older. This formerly owned a moated castle. Löbnitz, an old Sorbian settlement, was first mentioned in 1270. Räthern, a clearing settlement first mentioned in 1371, belongs to Lehndorf, which was created as a colonial settlement.

The Romanesque church at Teicha was built on an old Slavic cult site. Church and village belonged to the Giebichenstein office , but came into the possession of the Petersberg monastery Neuwerk in 1120 . The church is dedicated to St. Moritz, the patron saint of the Saxon period. Like Teicha, Groitsch, Löbnitz, Lehndorf and Räthern also belonged to the Giebichenstein office in the hall circle of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg . With its annexation to Prussia, from 1680 they belonged to the Brandenburg-Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg .

The imperial army encamped in Halle in 1546 also tyrannized Teicha. The village was hit even worse during the Thirty Years' War, when the plague claimed many victims in 1636. Austrians and Imperial troops extorted high contributions in the Seven Years' War in 1761. The French also visited Teicha (1806). They looted and destroyed the inventory of the church and killed the pastor . With the Peace of Tilsit , the place and its four present-day districts were incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. They belonged to the canton of Neumarkt . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the five places were attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and assigned to the Saalkreis.

Numerous resettlers came to Teicha in the 1950s . In the eighties and from 1994 many private homes were built in Teicha without affecting the village structure. This is one of the reasons why the community took first place in the 6th state competition “Our village has a future”.

So found z. B. In 2015 the Saalekreis choir festival took place, which was held on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Götschetal choir community and was linked to the choir anniversary.

Buildings

St. Mauritius

The Church of St. Mauritius was built on a hill around 1100 . There are two pagan stones on its southern wall, which suggest that this Götschetal settlement was very old. Apparently today's church hill was an old place of worship. Teichas church and its oldest parts: the tower, the old nave with originally three arched windows, are Romanesque, the three-sided choir is Gothic, the sacristy and entrance hall are Baroque, the unsuitable, futile roof turret dates from the 18th century. In the years 2001 to 2003 the organ was renovated with donations from the residents.

Until it was shut down in 1890, an overshot watermill , built in 1710, worked near Löbnitz an der Götsche .

The local sports club is SV Traktor Teicha e. V. , one of the oldest sports clubs in Germany. He was on 10/12. Founded June 1885 under the name Turnfreunde Teicha-Löbnitz . The club currently has well over 200 members in the football, table tennis and gymnastics departments.

The Götschetal choir community is an association that has been known since 1949 as a male choir and since 1975 as a mixed choir under the name “Volkschor Teicha”. In the course of the administrative reform in 2007, the name was changed to the Götschetal choir community. The choir currently has around 20 members. As early as 1881 there was a choir in Teicha.
