Alterode is a district of the town of Arnstein in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

Geographical location

Alterode is located in a landscape and nature reserve between the federal highways 242 and 180, approx. 10 km northwest of Hettstedt . This area is crossed by numerous small brooks and rivers, such as Selke , Eine , Leine and the Schwennecke, which flow through small valleys.

history

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Alterode, Bräunrode , Greifenhagen , Harkerode , Quenstedt , Stangerode , Sylda , Ulzigerode and Welbsleben and the city of Sandersleben (Anhalt) merged to form the new city of Arnstein. The administrative community Wipper-Eine , to which Alterode belonged, was dissolved.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on April 19, 1995 by the regional president of the Halle administrative region and deposited under no. 43/1995 in the Saxony-Anhalt state archive .

Blazon : “Divided by green over silver; above a covered silver draw well with winch, below a green linden leaf on a branch. "

The coat of arms was designed in 1995 by the Magdeburg local heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and included in the approval process.

societies

The Alteröder, who have always attached importance to old customs and traditions, founded associations and interest groups with great enthusiasm after 1990. The mostly voluntary work of the people made social life in the community more varied and attractive.

In the meantime, Alteröder associations have made themselves known far beyond the municipal boundaries. For example the Alteröder Spielmannszug, which can look back on an old tradition and was re-established in 1976. To mark its 25th anniversary, the marching band organized a music festival. The marching band is present at all festivals and takes part in the village festivals of the neighboring communities.

The Alteröder Schützengesellschaft 1867 e. V. is probably the association with the longest tradition. Already around 450 years ago, Harzer riflemen came together to defend their homeland and their belongings. From the initial rifle companies, the rifle societies later emerged. The flag of the Alteröder Schützengesellschaft was consecrated as early as 1867. From 1926 to 1934 the rifle clubs of Alterode and the surrounding villages were combined in the Schützenbund Einetal-Arnstein . The re-establishment of the Alteröder rifle club was only possible with the turnaround in 1990. The rifle chain of the Alteröder shooting club from 1927 to 1940 is a valuable memento of the club.

Sports

There is a sports field and a modernized sports home in town. In 1984 a motocross track was inaugurated on the Osterberg. The annual races on the 1050 m long route are organized by MC Einetal Alterode.

Regular events

The annual Heimat- und Schützenfest, which is celebrated for four days, is entirely under the patronage of the Alteröder Schützengesellschaft 1867 e. V. The highlight of the shooting festival is the shooting of the shooting king among adults and among children.

The festival ends on Mondays with the traditional pea bear festival. The "egg collecting" is a fixed ritual during the parade. There are only guesses as to the meaning of the custom. What is certain is that the pea bear is supposed to drive away worries and hardships.
