Johann Anton Trinius

Johann Anton Trinius (born October 6, 1722 in Alterode ; † May 3, 1784 in Eisleben ) was a German Protestant pastor , theologian and writer .

Life

Johann Anton Trinius was born on October 6, 1722 in Alterode in what was then the county of Mansfeld as the son of the local preacher Bernhard Trinius and his wife Johanna Sohia Derling. After receiving careful training in his parents' house, Trinius began studying theology in 1740 at the request of his father at the University of Leipzig , which he continued in 1742 in Helmstedt and in 1749 in Halle (Saale) . In 1744 he took a trip through western northern Germany, where he broadened his horizons and met many scholars. In 1745 he continued his studies in Helmstedt. Then he practiced preaching and catechizing with his father in Altenroda. After a short stay in Göttingen , Trinius received the post of a parish substitute in Bräunrode and Walbeck in the county of Mansfeld from the Baron von Knigge in 1748 . In 1750 he succeeded the deceased pastor there. In addition, on April 3, 1760, he had acquired the academic degree of master's degree from the University of Wittenberg . Trinius died on May 3, 1784 after moving to Eisleben in the last years of his life . He has developed a not insignificant activity as a writer, dealing both with the history of scholars and with the moralistic contestation of freethinking .

Trinius was married twice. His first marriage was with Augusta Friederica, (died April 2, 1730 in Stade; † December 5, 1767 in Bräunrode). From this first marriage there are two sons and a daughter. He concluded his second marriage on August 19, 1771 with Charlotte Gerhardine Hahnemann (1752-1812), a sister of the well-known founder of homeopathy Samuel Hahnemann and the later wife of the general superintendent in Eisleben, Johann Andreas Müller.
