Bräunrode is a district of the town of Arnstein in the northern district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Bräunrode is located on the eastern edge of the Harz, about seven kilometers west of Hettstedt . The highest point in the local area reaches a height of 308  m above sea level. NN and the lowest point is 266 m above sea level. In the north and west the place is bordered by forests, in the east and south by fields.

history

In 1060 the place was first mentioned as Bruniroht . The name goes back to a man named Bruno who cleared the forest. Over time, the place name changed from Brunorode to several names such as Braunorode , Brennrode up to today's Bräunrode.

The district of Friedrichrode was built by Friedrich von Knigge , and the place still bears his name today.

The Willerode estate was first mentioned in 1377 and was an independent municipality until 1742.

Until 1945, the residents of the districts worked on the goods. The inhabitants of Bräunrode were mostly small and medium-sized farmers who, depending on their financial situation, still worked in the Mansfeld copper slate mining. In 1952 the first agricultural production cooperatives were founded. From 1960 to 1989 there were no private farms in Bräunrode.

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Bräunrode, Alterode , Greifenhagen , Harkerode , Quenstedt , Stangerode , Sylda , Ulzigerode and Welbsleben and the city of Sandersleben (Anhalt) merged to form the new city of Arnstein. The administrative association Wipper-Eine , to which Bräunrode belonged, was dissolved.

politics

Street renaming

As a result of the decision of the Arnstein City Council, on April 6, 2017, the "Hauptstrasse" was renamed to "Bräunröder Hauptstrasse". The previous draft, the "Hauptstraße" in "Popendieker Str." Renaming was discarded by the objection of the citizens of Bräunröder under the leadership of the former parish council chairwoman Annemarie Plischke.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved by the Halle regional council on April 19, 1995 and registered in what is now the State Archive of Saxony-Anhalt under the coat of arms roll number 44/1995.

Blazon : "In silver three green fir trees on a green three-mountain topped with two silver crossed axes."

The colors of the church are green and white.

So far, the community used an image seal with three fir trees. The local council therefore decided to have three conifers on a mountain (here a three-mountain) in the new coat of arms. In connection with the name, at the request of the municipality, the Dreiberg is occupied with two crossed axes, which should indicate that the place once emerged from the clearing of the forest in earlier times.

The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg heraldist Jörg Mantzsch .
