Ulzigerode is a district of the town of Arnstein in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
Ulzigerode is located on the eastern edge of the Harz, approx. 12 km southwest of Aschersleben . The place extends over the three valleys of the Schwennecke, the Kleine Mukarehne and the Mukarehne.
history
The place, which arose due to the clearing by a certain "Oldarich" as a descendant of "Olzo", was first mentioned in a document from Emperor Charles V in the 16th century. The village belonged to the "Knigg'schen Amte Arnstein zu Endorf" in the former Saxon county of Mansfeld.
On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Ulzigerode, Alterode , Bräunrode , Greifenhagen , Harkerode , Quenstedt , Stangerode , Sylda and Welbsleben and the city of Sandersleben (Anhalt) merged to form the new city of Arnstein. The administrative association Wipper-Eine , to which Ulzigerode belonged, was dissolved.
