In 1765 the Walbeck Castle and the church were built. Only cloisters remained of the former monastery in part of the castle. A subsequent von der Bussche had the park redesigned and an extensive orchard laid out. He had the Planteur house built for the responsible orchardist, the Dutch officer named Planteur. Regular events
The robber festival is organized by the robber association and takes place on the second weekend in August. It is based on old tradition and is known beyond the borders of the village. The background of the festival is a spectacle of the members of the robber club in disguise. The prince and princess and their entourage will move to the zoo on Saturday and celebrate a party. In the evening, robbers raid the festival, overwhelm the royal couple and kidnap the princess and the community key. On Sunday morning the robbers are overpowered by police officers, the community key is recaptured and the princess is freed. The robbers are captured, led through the village and then sentenced and executed. When moving through the village, the residents and onlookers donate eggs, bacon and the like. Scrambled eggs are then prepared in the zoo and sold to the participants and onlookers. The income from the festival will benefit the zoo.
