Friedrich Casimir zu Eltz

Friedrich Casimir, Edler zu Eltz (born April 20, 1634 in Rethmar , † May 31, 1682 in Clausthal ) was a Hanoverian miner and manor owner .

He came from the Rhenish noble family of the Lords of Eltz , named after Eltz Castle and headed the Hanoverian mining administration in the Harz . His place of activity was Clausthal, from where he acquired the manor Walbeck in the Eastern Harz, which was located in the county of Mansfeld , which was then under the electorate of Saxony . He also became the owner of the Count of Mansfeld Walbeck and was a Braunschweig-Lüneburg Privy Councilor and Landdrost of the Principality of Grubenhagen .

His parents, the Imperial Lieutenant Colonel Philipp Samson zu Eltz-Rodendorf auf Dürnstein and Grünstadt (brother of the Brunswick, later Mecklenburg Chancellor in the service of Wallenstein, Johann Eberhard zu Eltz , both in turn sons of a Calvinist electoral Palatinate bailiff and grandson of Johann Adolph zu Eltz-Bliescastel and Katharina von Brandscheidt-Rodendorf) and the mother Amalie von Rutenberg , heiress of Rethmar Castle , died early. He was born by his mother's sister, Agnes, and her husband Gebhard XXV. raised by Alvensleben . Their son was the future Hanoverian minister Johann Friedrich II. Von Alvensleben (1657–1728). After a three-year study trip to Paris , he entered the service of the Duke of Braunschweig-Lüneburg, whose miner he became. Eltz died at the age of 48. His funeral sermon was printed.

On October 14, 1664 he married Barbara Margaretha von Pfuel (* August 3, 1649, † June 19, 1695 in Walbeck), the daughter of Adam von Pfuel . The following children were born from this marriage:

  • Philipp Adam, Edler Herr zu Eltz , born December 25, 1665, followed him in the possession of Walbeck and Rethmar
  • Amalia Helena zu Eltz, remained unmarried, dean of the Minden monastery
  • Anna Dorothea zu Eltz, married to Georg Anton Freiherr von Hardenberg auf Wiederstedt (neighboring estate of Walbeck)
  • Gottliebe Eleonora zu Eltz, married to Philipp von dem Bussche in Schluesselburg
  • Johann Christof zu Eltz; † in the War of the Spanish Succession
