Christine Werber

Christine Charlotte Werber (* 11. June 1946 in Röns as Christine Charlotte Prochaska ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and specialist teacher. From 1987 to 1994 she was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Werber attended elementary school in Feldkirch and then switched to secondary school at Feldkirch high school. She then graduated from the Bregenz Business School for two years and then worked as an office worker at the Kunert company in Rankweil. She then continued her training and graduated from the Bregenz Commercial Academy in 1966 . Werber worked from 1966 to 1967 as a receptionist at the Hotel Berghof in Lech and then from 1967 to 1968 as a secretary at the Anger company in Vienna. In 1968 she joined the Engelhard-Hanovia company in Mauren ( Liechtenstein) and also had a part-time job at the Bundeshandelsakademie Feldkirch from 1968 to 1970. At the same time, she continued her education through language and advanced training courses, and between 1969 and 1970 acquired the qualification to teach shorthand and typing. From 1970 she worked as a specialist teacher at the Federal Trade Academy and at the Federal Trade School Feldkirch. In addition, she completed a correspondence course in philosophy in the field of psychology at Clayton University and received her PhD in philosophy in 1985. In 2006 Werber retired.

Politics and functions

Werber became a member of the Austrian People's Party and also joined the ÖVP women's movement, the ÖAAB and the Economic Association. She also belonged to the Feldkirch-Tisis local group of the ÖVP women's movement from 1980 and was a member of the state party leadership of the ÖVP Vorarlberg and a member of the ÖVP district leadership in Feldkirch. Between 1985 and 1995 she represented the ÖVP in the city council of Feldkirch, after which she was a substitute member of the city council from 1995 to 1997. In addition, she was active as a functionary of the teachers of the Christian trade unionists group from around 1971 and, as a member of the Feldkirch constituency, represented the Austrian People's Party from October 7, 1987 to October 3, 1994 in the Vorarlberg state parliament Culture Committee and member of the Social Policy Committee. In 2006 Werber joined the ÖVP senior citizens' association.

Private

Werber is the daughter of Bruno and Hermine Prochaska, although their parents were born in Vienna. In 1969 she married the administrative clerk Erich Werber, who was born in Lower Austria, and had a daughter in 1972 and 1975 respectively.
