Hans Demant

Hans Demant (born September 21, 1950 in Wiesbaden ) is a German engineer. From June 18, 2004 to January 15, 2010 he was CEO of Adam Opel AG and Chairman of the Management Board of Adam Opel GmbH .

Life

Demant completed his mechanical engineering studies at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences as a qualified engineer and began his career at Opel in product development. After two years, he began further studies at the TU Darmstadt , which he completed in 1979.

From 2001 he was Vice Chairman of the Board of General Motors in Europe. On June 18, 2004 he succeeded Carl-Peter Forster as CEO of Adam Opel AG or (since the company was converted into a GmbH on December 7, 2005) as CEO of Adam Opel GmbH. On January 15, 2010, he resigned from his position in order to oversee the product rights of Opel parent company General Motors (GM) worldwide. From October 2010 to the beginning of 2016 he coordinated international projects at the Volkswagen Group .

Hans Demant is married and has two daughters.
