Karl-Friedrich Stracke

Karl-Friedrich Stracke (born June 22, 1956 in Lichtenfels - Goddelsheim ) is a German engineer . From April 11, 2011 to July 12, 2012, Stracke was CEO of Adam Opel AG . As Chief Executive Officer (CEO) he was responsible for the worldwide operational business of Opel / Vauxhall Motors .

From April 1, 2013, Stracke will become President of the automotive technology division of the supplier Magna Steyr in Austria .

Life

Stracke's career began in 1979 as a body-in-white design engineer. After a second degree in business administration at GM University in Flint (Michigan) , he took on management tasks in the field of body construction in 1984 ; from 1991 he headed this area.

In 1993 Stracke was appointed chief engineer for production development for presses and sub-assemblies; from 1995 he was production director of the Opel plant in Bochum . In 1999 Stracke returned to Rüsselsheim as Director of Product Development .

In 2004, Stracke became Executive Director for General Motors Europe Engineering; as such he was responsible for Opel / Vauxhall Motors product development and Saab product design in Trollhättan . From 2006, his responsibility was expanded to include product development for all GM brands. In 2008 he took over the area of ​​global vehicle integration and test fields for all GM brands. Since 2009, Stracke has been Vice President responsible for global vehicle product development at GM.

On July 12, 2012, Opel announced that Stracke was stepping down from his position as CEO of Adam Opel AG. He will also no longer hold the position of President of General Motors Europe. Stracke should take on special tasks for GM in the future. The American Steve Girsky will take over from Stracke as Opel CEO .

Karl-Friedrich Stracke is married and has two daughters.
