David Nicholas "Nick" Reilly (born December 17, 1949 in Anglesey , Wales ) is a British manager . He was CEO of GM Europe from 2009 to 2012 and CEO of Adam Opel AG from 2010 to 2011 .

Life

After graduation at the Harrow School graduated Reilly studying at St Catharine's College of Cambridge University , where he graduated 1,971th He worked as a financial analyst in Manchester until 1974 , after which he stayed for a short time in a hut in Snowdonia National Park , where he decided to change his career. In 1975 he took up a position in the Detroit Diesel Allison Division of the US automobile manufacturer General Motors in Wellingborough . In the following years he took on leading positions, which he held from 1978 in the GM branches in Antwerp , Detroit and Mexico .

Reilly was General Operations Manager Aftersales (Head of Purchasing) at GM subsidiary Vauxhall Motors from 1984 to 1987 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 1986. He served as Vice President Operations from 1987 and was Chairman and Managing Director of the company from 1996 to 2001. At the turn of the year 2001/02 he was restructured as chairman of the transition board at Daewoo , which traded as GM Daewoo after the takeover . From 2002 to 2006 he was CEO of GM Daewoo Auto and Technology Company and from 2006 to 2009 Vice President of the GM Group and President of the GM Asia Pacific Group.

After the parent company went bankrupt in June 2009, Reilly played a key role as President of GM International Operations (July to December 2009) in the negotiations for GM's German subsidiary Adam Opel AG. As President of GM Europe (December 2009 to January 2012) he was CEO of Adam Opel AG from January 2010 to April 2011, and then Chairman of the Supervisory Board until November 2011.

After leaving the GM Group, in April 2012 he became the new chairman for Asia / Pacific at the consulting company for the automotive industry MSX.

Nick Reilly has been married to Susan Haig since 1976 and has two children.
