Gottenz is a village belonging to the district of Gröbers in the municipality of Kabelsketal in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

Gottenz is located north of Gröbers in the area between Halle (Saale) and Leipzig . Federal motorway 14 runs immediately south of the village . There are five ponds north of Gottenz.

history

The first documented mention of the place is from 1371 as Gotentz . Gottenz was under the administration of the Lochau Patrimonial Court and belonged to the hall circle of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg . In 1680 this came under Brandenburg-Prussian rule as the Duchy of Magdeburg .

With the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 Gottenz was incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. It belonged to the canton of Dieskau . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the Saalkreis in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Gottenz was attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and assigned to the Saalkreis.

In 1910 Gottenz had 388 inhabitants. The population then fell over 346 in 1933 to 286 people in 1939.

The allotment garden association Frieden Gottenz eV with 47 garden plots has existed in the village since 1946. Gottenz was an independent municipality until June 30, 1950 and was then incorporated into Gröbers on July 1. Together with Gröbers, Gottenz came to the Kabelsketal municipality on January 1, 2004.

The street at Postplatz 1–10; Thomas-Müntzer-Straße 1–4, 10–16 is entered in the register of monuments of the municipality of Kabelsketal .
