Local division

The main town of Schochwitz and the districts of Boltzenhöhe, Gorsleben, Krimpe, Räther and Wils belong to Schochwitz.

history

Schochwitz and its current districts of Gorsleben, Krimpe, Räther and Wils belonged to the county of Mansfeld . While Räther (also called Räthern) belonged to the Seeburg office ( Schraplau district ) and Gorsleben to the Hedersleben district ( Mansfeld district ), Schochwitz, Krimpe and Wils were subject to the noble patrimonial jurisdiction of the Schochwitz manor. The rule of Schochwitz was acquired in 1573 by the Lords of Schulenburg and sold in 1783 to the Lords of Alvensleben auf Eichenbarleben , who owned Schochwitz Castle until it was expropriated in 1945 as part of the land reform. When the county of Mansfeld was divided in 1738/80, the three Schochwitz manor types Schochwitz, Krimpe and Wils as well as the towns of Räther and Gorsleben received the share that the Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg received.

With the Peace of Tilsit in 1807, the five places were incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department. The places came to the canton of Seeburg . After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the area in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Schochwitz, Gorsleben, Krimpe, Räther and Wils were attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and incorporated into the Mansfeld Lake District .

On July 1, 1950, Gorsleben, Krimpe, Räther and Wils were incorporated into Schochwitz, now more in the Saalkreis. With the second district reform, Schochwitz came on July 25, 1952 in the newly tailored Saalkreis (in the Halle district ), which was added to the Saalekreis on July 1, 2007.

Until the new formation of the unified municipality of Salzatal on January 1, 2010, Schochwitz was an independent municipality in the administrative community of the Western Saalkreis . The last mayor of Schochwitz was Steffen Bernas.
