Location of Burgsdorf in Lutherstadt Eisleben
|
Burgsdorf is a district of Lutherstadt Eisleben in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
Burgsdorf is about 9 km northeast of Eisleben on the road from Halle to Harzgerode between Polleben and Schwittersdorf. The Fleischbach rises in the village and flows off to Bösenburg in the north.
history
Settlement of the Burgsdorf district began in the Neolithic Age . The remains of a settlement and a burial ground of the Baalberg culture were found on the hills in the south of the village. There are traces of two settlements and four stone packing grave fields from the Bronze Age . Other archaeological finds date from the Iron Age to the late Roman Empire. Burgsdorf ( Burcdorpf ) is named as a place in Friesenfeld that is subject to tithing in a register of tithe ( Hersfeld tithe list ) of the Hersfeld monastery that was created between 881 and 899 . The village, which has always been dominated by agriculture, has belonged to the Mansfeld Hinteramt since 1012 . In that year the Counts Burchard and Gebhard von Mansfeld ceded the patronage to the Abbot of Hersfeld . The place belonged to the Heiligenthal office in the 18th century . At that time, Burgsdorf had 162 souls and 28 fireplaces. In 1864 Burgsdorf had 213 inhabitants.
On January 1, 2010, the previously independent community of Burgsdorf was incorporated into the town of Lutherstadt Eisleben together with Hedersleben .
Culture and sights
Buildings
The village church of St. Andreas is a simple Romanesque building from the late 12th century. It was redesigned in 1815. The west tower has a barrel vault on the bottom floor . The single nave church has a flat ceiling and a small vestibule with a lintel post portal with a tympanum and ornaments. On the east wall there are early Gothic wall paintings from the period 1230 to 1240. They depict Mary, some female saints, and Christ enthroned between Peter and Paul. Today, these extremely valuable paintings are apparently hidden behind a layer of plaster from the late 20th century. There are also baroque furnishings such as the altarpiece, the paintings of which date from 1662 by JA Bottschild .
Regular events
The village festival is held every year in July.
Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
The federal road 180 , which connects Naumburg (Saale) with Aschersleben , runs 7 km southeast of the village. The closest train station is in Lutherstadt Eisleben . The Burgsdorf station is currently not served, as the Halle – Hettstedt line in the Heiligenthal - Schochwitz section has been closed since March 11, 1968. In addition, the tracks were dismantled in the section. The Friends of the Halle-Hettstedter Eisenbahn e. V. plans to reactivate the line in the near future with a rail replacement service between Heiligenthal and Schochwitz until the tracks are reassembled.
