Dudenrod is a district of Büdingen in the Wetterau district .

location

Dudenrod is three kilometers north of Büdingen in a valley on the Wolfsbach. The Christinenhof, 500 meters east of Dudenrod, also belongs to the district.

history

Former School building and office building, today the village community center

Name and first mention

The place was probably created in the 12th century from a forest workers' settlement. Dudenrod was first mentioned in a document on September 7, 1277.

The forest around the slowly forming place was called "Duden". The clearing of the forest by the forest workers who settled on the spot with this settlement seem to be responsible for the naming "Dudenrodung" and later to "Dudenrod".

On the other hand, there is the more likely interpretation of the historical form of the name "Dudenrode" as "clearing of the Dudo."

Another story

  • In 1689 it was decreed that the children from the village of Dudenrod should go to Wolf's new school instead of Büdingen .
  • At the beginning of the 18th century, Dudenrod, together with Büches and Pferdsbach, became a parish of Wolf as a subsidiary village.
  • On June 30, 1887, the “Büdinger Allgemeine Anzeiger” announced, among other things, that there was an official sales point for postage stamps at Mayor Nos in Dudenrod. The sellers have undertaken not to give the postage stamps to the public for a higher amount than the postal service providers.
  • Up to 1968 the pupils of the elementary school from the 1st to the 4th grade were taught together (in one room) at the school in Dudenrod. In 1968 the elementary school was closed and the elementary school students have attended the school in Wolf since then .
  • On December 31, 1971, Dudenrod was incorporated into the city of Büdingen.
