history

In a register of the tithe of the Hersfeld monastery that was created between 881 and 899, Rothenschirmbach is mentioned for the first time in a document as the place Scrinbechiu in Friesenfeld, which is subject to a tenancy requirement . Settlement remains and a grave of linear ceramic, a stone box of the spherical amphora culture, 2 cord ceramic stone boxes are the oldest finds in the Rothenschirmbach area. A stone grave from the Middle Bronze Age was south of the village.

In 1140 it was called Scirinbeche (in Old Saxon skiri , 'louder', 'pure', perhaps referring to a source or a stream). A typical clustered village , it leans like Sittichenbach on the Rote Berg (245 meters above sea level). The place was not a Mansfeld village, but with a parcel called Kilians-, alias Königs-, alias Kirchenhagen, 1 kilometer east of the village, ties to the Paulinzella monastery .

Paulina , married to the noble Ulrich von Schraplau , moved into a hermitage after an eventful life in a secluded valley of the Thuringian Forest, from which monastery-like hermitages developed within a short time. When she died in 1112, her body was buried in the Marienzelle chapel, later known as the Paulinenzelle. Soon afterwards, the majority of the monks expressed their desire to found a new cell in the Rothenschirmbach they had chosen, the actual residence of the holy woman. A spiritual arbitration (1139) in their favor turned out to be hasty.

A monk reported a lack of lumber, water, the proximity of the village and other hardships that caused the brothers to return to Paulinenzelle that same year.

Paulinenzelle had to give up his goods in the village in the course of time, generally in favor of the nearby Sittichenbach monastery and above all with regard to the manorial power and jurisdiction. Rothenschirmbach is one of the villages that succeeded in qualifying their village constitution without it becoming the desired market town (around 1490: Burmeister, 3 lords, 3 old residents). This was associated with economic improvements for the residents, which excluded their participation in the work stoppages and riots of 1526 (in the Mansfeld region). The place belonged to the Saxon office Sittichenbach until 1815 and then became Prussian.

On January 1, 2005, Rothenschirmbach was incorporated into Lutherstadt Eisleben.

The first monolith grave of the Bell Beaker Culture (GBK) in Saxony-Anhalt was discovered in Rothenschirmbach in 2005 . The 1.55 m long and between 34 and 55 cm wide, 400 kg stone lay over a 20-30-year-old man who was buried in a stool position .

Economy and Infrastructure

Rothenschirmbach has been an agricultural village since it was founded. With the influx of many resettlers after 1945 (at times over 1,100 inhabitants), handicrafts and trade revived in the village. In 1960 there were around 20 trades in the village. In 1962 the LPG (Agricultural Production Cooperative) was founded to increase the efficiency of agriculture.

With the political upheaval in 1989/90 and the reunification of Germany, economic development in Rothenschirmbach was also significantly advanced. From 1992 onwards, commercial areas were set up southeast and southwest of the core village with a total area of approx. 30 hectares. The necessary infrastructure has been set up.

The development was also driven by the fact that the north-south axis of the former Kupfer-Wein-Straße, today B 180 , was expanded on the one hand (opened in 2002) and on the other hand an east-west connection between the Leipzig / Halle and Göttingen conurbations with the A 38 should be created. Since December 22nd, 2009 this connection has been continuously passable.

As a result, a large number of companies and. a. the automotive industry and various services, several commercial establishments and some manufacturing plants. So z. B. Companies of metal construction, formwork manufacture, pump construction and microelectronics.

Under the changed framework conditions, the local agricultural company managed to restructure itself with the further development of modern production methods in agriculture and to assert itself in the market. Since 2011 there has also been direct marketing including agricultural products from the region in the Rothenschirmbacher Landmarkt.
