Pascal William "Cal" Clutterbuck (born November 18, 1987 in Welland , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League since June 2013 .
Career
Clutterbuck played for the Toronto St. Michael's Majors and Oshawa Generals while junior in the Ontario Hockey League . In 2004 he took part in the U18 Junior World Cup and in 2005 in the U18 Junior World Championship in the Czech Republic, where he won the silver medal with the Canadian national team . In 2006 he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the third round and 72nd place overall by the Minnesota Wild.
On May 27, 2007, he signed a contract with the Minnesota Wild. First he was for the Houston Eros , the farm team of the Wild, in the American Hockey League for use. After an injury to Pavol Demitra , he was called to the squad of Wild and completed his first game in the NHL on October 28, 2007 against the Colorado Avalanche . In the game, however, he was not able to prevail until the following season. On November 24, 2008, he scored his first goal in the NHL against the Washington Capitals .
Clutterbuck held the NHL record for most hits in one season, set since 2005, for three seasons . With 356 body checks he excelled in the 2008/09 season, the best value of existing Dustin Brown . In the 2011/12 season , however, Matt Martin beat Clutterbuck's record with 374 hits.
At the end of June 2013, he was transferred to the New York Islanders in exchange for Nino Niederreiter with a third-round suffrage in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft . With the Islanders, the attacker signed a new five-year contract in December 2016, which should earn him an average annual salary of 3.5 million US dollars.
