Anthony Beauvillier (born June 8, 1997 in Sorel , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League since October 2016 in the position of left winger .

Career

Beauvillier played during his junior years with the Cataractes de Shawinigan in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League at the beginning of the 2013/14 season . After a solid rookie year with 33 scorer points , the striker made the breakthrough in his second year with 94 points. He was not only the best scorer of his team, but also eighth best in the entire league. In the summer he was selected in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft 2015 in 28th position by the New York Islanders from the National Hockey League , who then signed him the following October. However, the striker stayed in the junior division for another year.

Thanks to his good performance in the pre-season training camp, he earned a place in the Islanders' squad at the beginning of the 2016/17 season and finally celebrated his competitive debut in the NHL on October 13, 2016.

International

For his home country, Beauvillier played at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2014 and the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2014 . He also played for Canada in the 2015 U18 World Junior Championship and the 2016 U20 World Junior Championship . He won the gold medal at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and the bronze medal at the U18 Junior World Championship.

Beauvillier made his debut for the senior national team at the 2018 World Cup , where he finished fourth with the team.
