Justin Mercier (born June 25, 1987 in Erie , Pennsylvania ) is an American ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg in the German Ice Hockey League in the 2012/13 season .

Career

Justin Mercier was selected in the sixth round in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche in 168th place. He finally began his professional career in 2009, where he signed a three-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche. In the 2009/10 season he was mainly used with the Lake Erie Monsters in the American Hockey League , the farm team of the Colorado Avalanche. For nine games this season Mercier was appointed to the squad of the Colorado Avalanche, he also played 64 games for the Lake Erie Monsters. In total, he scored a total of 25 scorer points for both teams in his first season .

In the following two seasons Mercier was with a total of 220 games and 76 scorer points record player at the Lake Erie Monsters, but was no longer appointed to the squad of the Colorado Avalanche.

Mercier was not offered a contract extension for the following season by the Colorado Avalanche, so he was invited as a free agent almost two months after the regular start of the 2012/13 season for trial training with the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg . At that time, four regular strikers were out there, some of them long-term. After a successful try-out, Mercier received a contract until the end of the season and made his debut on October 31 for the Grizzly Adams in a home game against ERC Ingolstadt . However, Mercier was subsequently unable to meet the expectations placed in him - in his first 31 games for the Grizzly Adams the striker only scored two goals and three assists - and was quickly considered a flop. Logically, his contract was not extended at the end of the season.

In the 2015/2016 season, Mercier played for HC Gherdëina in the Italian Serie A.
