Andrei Wladislawowitsch Popow ( Russian Андрей Владиславович Попов ; born July 15, 1988 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HK Traktor Chelyabinsk from the Continental Hockey League until April 2020 and was there in the position of the right-wing hockey league Has played winger .

Career

Andrei Popov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the HK tractor Chelyabinsk , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League from 2003 to 2005 . Subsequently, the winger made his debut for the professional team of HK tractor in the Vysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, in the 2005/06 season . With his team he was promoted to the second division championship in the super league , in which he ran up in the following two years.

From the beginning of the 2008/09 season , Popov was on the ice for the HK tractor Chelyabinsk in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . At the same time, he was used in the 2009/10 season for Traktor's junior team in the multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga and scored 26 points, including eleven goals, in 14 games. For the KHL team he scored 15 goals in 54 games over the same period and provided twelve templates. In the 2016/17 season he finally switched to league rivals Ak Bars Kazan for three years , where he won the Gagarin Cup in 2018 . In the summer of 2019, Popov returned to his home club in Chelyabinsk for a year.

International

For Russia , Popov took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2006 . In six games he scored three goals and gave two assists.
