Atte Ohtamaa (born November 6, 1987 in Nivala ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Lokomotive Yaroslavl from the Continental Hockey League (KHL) since May 2020 and plays there in the position of defender .

Career

Atte Ohtamaa already played in the junior division for Kärpät Oulu , for which he made his debut in the 2007/08 season in the SM-liiga . The defender scored one goal in ten games. He was also used in a playoff game. At the end of the season, Ohtamaa became Finnish champion with Kärpät for the first time in his first season . In the 2008/09 season Ohtamaa was part of the Finns' regular squad and was also on the ice in all four group games in the Champions Hockey League .

In 2014 he won another championship title with Kärpät before he was signed by Jokerit Helsinki from the Continental Hockey League in May 2014 . There he was one of the regular players in the following two years and was therefore recommended for appearances in the national team.

In August 2016 he moved abroad for the first time and was signed by the KHL club Ak Bars Kazan . With Ak Bars, he won the Gagarin Cup and the Russian championship title in 2018 . After this success he returned to his hometown club in Oulu . With this he became Finnish runner-up in 2019 and then won the gold medal at the World Cup with the Finnish national team .

At the beginning of the 2019/20 season he was loaned to HC Lugano and from November 2019 to Barys Nur-Sultan . He then stayed in the KHL when he signed a contract with Lokomotive Yaroslavl in May 2020 .
