Willy André Petersson (born November 11, 1990 in Olofström ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Lokomotive Yaroslavl in the Continental Hockey League since May 2020 .

Career

André Petersson began his career as a hockey player at Tingsryds AIF . At the age of 16 he switched to HV71 . For the club from Jönköping he first played in youth teams up to the J20 SuperElit and from 2008 also in the Elitserien , as the highest Swedish professional league was called at that time. Although he was selected in the 2007 CHL Import Draft by the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors in the first round as the 47th player and a year later by the Ottawa Senators in the NHL Entry Draft 2008 in the fourth round as the 109th player he who faithfully until 2011 the HV71 and won with the club in 2010 Swedish championship . In summer 2010 he reached the final of the European Trophy with HV71 , which however was lost 3: 5 against the Eisbären Berlin . He himself was named top scorer and best striker in the trophy.

For the 2011/12 season he then switched to the Ottawa Senators, but was mainly used in their farm team , the Binghamton Senators in the American Hockey League . He came to his only NHL game when he was used on January 21, 2012 for Ottawa against the Anaheim Ducks . In March 2014 he moved to Anaheim in exchange with Alex Grant , but was immediately passed on by the Ducks to their farm team, the Norfolk Admirals , where he ended the season. The following season he went to HK Sochi in the Continental Hockey League , where he still plays today. In 2015 he was nominated for the KHL All-Star Game .

Further stations in the KHL were in the 2017-2018 season of HK Awangard Omsk and then Barys Astana . After 50 scorer points for Astana in the 2018/19 season, he left the Kazakh club and moved to HK Dynamo Moscow . A year later, after his contract with Dynamo expired, he was hired by Lokomotive Yaroslavl .

International

With the Swedish offspring, Petersson took part in the U18 World Championships in 2007 and 2008 and the U20 World Championships in 2009 and 2010 , when he was the tournament's top scorer together with the Canadian Jordan Eberle . In 2009 he became vice world champion with Sweden , in 2007 and 2010 he won the bronze medal with his team.

In the 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2017/18 seasons he took part in the Euro Hockey Tour as part of the Swedish national team.
