Nivala [ ˈnivɑlɑ ] is a small town in northwestern Finland . It is located around 150 km south of the city of Oulu in the valley of the Kalajoki River in the Österbotten countryside .
overview
In addition to the main town Nivala, the towns Aittoperä, Ahde, Haapaperä, Järvikylä, Karvoskylä, Maliskylä, Pahkakylä, Sarjankylä, Välikylä, Padinki, Paloperä, Haikara, Ruuskankylä, Jokikylä, Koskenperä and Ypyä belong to the city. The main town of Nivala is the intersection of national roads 27 (Kokkola-Kajaani) and 28 (Ylavieska-Iisalmi).
Like the entire region, Nivala is more rural than urban. A large part of the municipal area is used for agriculture, is flat and the landscape is extremely unimpressive. The only lake worth mentioning is Pidisjärvi, south of the community center, through which the Kalajoki flows.
