Siikalatva [ siːkɑˌlɑtʋɑ ] is a Finnish municipality with 5301 inhabitants (December 31, 2018) in the countryside Northern Ostrobothnia . It was created on January 1, 2009 from the merger of the municipalities of Kestilä , Piippola , Pulkkila and Rantsila . The administrative seat of the municipality is the church village Pulkkila.
politics
As in most rural areas of Finland, the Center Party is the strongest party in Siikalatva . In the local elections in 2012, she received over two thirds of the votes and thus has an absolute majority in the municipal council, the highest decision-making body on local matters, with 19 out of 27 mandates. The True Finns are represented by five MPs, the Left Alliance with two and the Social Democrats with one.
