Dan Sexton (born April 29, 1987 in Apple Valley , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg from the KHL since May 2018 .
Career
Dan Sexton began his career in the North American Hockey League with the Wichita Falls Wildcats . After a season with the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League , he went from 2007 to 2009 for the ice hockey team at Bowling Green State University on the ice. He completed 76 games and scored 24 goals and 60 points in his NCAA career.
Sexton, who was never drafted , signed a contract with the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League as a free agent in April 2009 . He started the season with their cooperation partners from the American Hockey League and ECHL , the Bakersfield Condors and Manitoba Moose . After strong performances, he was accepted into the NHL team of the Ducks. The striker played his first NHL game on December 4, 2009 against the Minnesota Wild . Sexton scored his first two goals for the Ducks in his third NHL game on December 8, 2009 against the Dallas Stars .
On July 1, 2011, the attacker's contract expired and Sexton became a restricted free agent . As a limited free player, there was the possibility that an offer from another team would be made to him on the basis of a so-called offer sheet . This did not happen, however, and on July 11, 2011, the American agreed on a new contract for two years with the Anaheim Ducks.
On March 11, 2013, he was transferred to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Kyle Wilson . In July 2013 he went to Northern Europe and was signed by TPS Turku from the Finnish Liiga . In January 2014 he moved to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in the KHL due to very good offensive performance . There he was always a top performer in the following four seasons and was nominated twice for the KHL All-Star Game .
In May 2018 he moved to Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg .
At the 2015 World Cup , he won the bronze medal with the United States national team.
