Wassili Wiktorowitsch Tokranow ( Russian Василий Викторович Токранов ; born August 2, 1989 in Almetjewsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with SKA Saint Petersburg in the Continental Hockey League since May 2018 .

Career

Vasily Tokranov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with Neftjanik Almetyevsk , for whose professional team he was active from 2006 to 2009 in the Vysschaya League , the second Russian division. In parallel, the defender played since 2007 for Ak Bars Kazan , for whom he was on the ice in a game in the Superliga in the 2007/08 season . In the course of the 2008/09 season he finally moved permanently to Kazan in the newly founded Continental Hockey League and won the Gagarin Cup with his team in the playoffs . In the following season , the former junior international was able to repeat this success with his team.

From the 2010/11 season Tokranov was a regular at Ak Bars Kazan and was one of the club's strongest attacking defenders in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 season. In the course of the play-offs in 2018 he scored nine points and thus contributed to winning the Gagarin Cup and thus the Russian championship. As a result, he was named KHL Defender of the Month for April . After the end of the season, his contract ran out and he was one of the most sought-after defenders within the KHL. In May 2018 he decided to sign up for a four-year contract with SKA Saint Petersburg .

International

For Russia , Tokranov took part in the U18 Junior World Championship 2007 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2009 . At the U18 World Cup in 2007 he was world champion with his team, in 2009 at the U20 World Cup he won the bronze medal with his country.
